AltspaceVR: VR that can build a shared space in virtual reality
AltspaceVR has released some tools that allow users to create their own sharable spaces in virtual reality.
It uses a drag-and-drop interface that allows you to use AltspaceVR compatible headsets (including Oculus Go and Gear VR) to place objects in 3D space. This is one of the first major upgrades since Microsoft acquired the social VR platform.
In October last year, Microsoft announced that it had acquired the VR social company AltspaceVR, but did not disclose the specific purchase price. After completing the acquisition, Microsoft hopes to build the world's best mixed reality community.
Katie Kelly, head of AltspaceVR, said: "This is the first step in ensuring that our community can help us build AltspaceVR's larger plan. Today, our community will have a basic toolkit that can be used to build the environment. Our goal is to release More kits so people can have more options to customize their world."
You can choose the kit according to the popular environment, Campfire and Origin, or you can make your own. You can also participate in world architectural events and connect with the design community. AltspaceVR will show the best world and let you share your own world on Twitter or Facebook.
If you want, you can host a multiplayer social game in VR, import your photographic snapshots from around the world, and include the teleporter in a public space. You can name your world, profile picture, and choose a starting environment. Templates include: Base Worlds and SDK Playground Worlds.
