Apple hopes to create a dedicated health chip with biometrics

According to CNBC reports, new job postings show that Apple is developing a dedicated customized health chip to process biometric data from its supporting devices. The chip may be used in the future to process data from health monitoring devices such as Apple Watch.

Apple is currently designing the SiP (system in package) system for the Apple Watch and the co-processor for the iPhone. Their role is to process data such as step count and heart rate. Apple Watch even includes chips designed for specific tasks. The purpose of these chips is to improve wireless connections with other accessories, and so on.

The report also mentioned that in addition to heart rate and motion tracking sensors, Apple also plans to introduce more sensors in the future.

Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously predicted that Apple's next-generation Apple Watch will have a larger display, enhanced health monitoring features and longer battery life, but the "expandable health monitoring features" part is still vague.

Apple declined to comment. The report added that Apple’s new actions may be based on the upgrade of existing biomedical sensors, rather than new sensors.
