On November 16th, 2017, the international video technology event was jointly sponsored by Beijing Film Academy and China Film and Television Technology Society, co-sponsored by Beijing Film Academy's Advanced Imaging Advanced Innovation Center and China Film and TV Technology Association Advanced Image Committee. The 2017 International Conference & Exhibition on Visual Entertainment (ICEVE) was officially held at the Beijing Film Academy for a period of two days.
The VR network (WeChat public number: VR platform) was invited as a cooperative media to attend the conference. At the opening ceremony, Hou Guangming, chairman of the ICEVE Organizing Committee and secretary of the Beijing Film Academy, delivered a speech in which he warmly welcomed top scientists, artists and film and television practitioners in the imaging field from around the world. He said: "The ICEVE Congress aims to build a bridge for international film and video professionals to connect with advanced international video technology through its international, professional and cutting-edge nature."
In his speech, Xie Jinhui, Chairman of the China Film and TV Technology Society, stated that the ICEVE Conference has become an indispensable industry communication platform for Chinese image content explorers and technology pioneers, and it has also become a model brand in the academic conference organized by the China Association for Science and Technology. .
On the morning of the 16th, the first topical forum for artificial intelligence and film production was held. Three experts and scholars from cutting-edge technology fields set out from their respective specialties, and presented brilliant views on the opportunities and challenges brought about by the development of artificial intelligence for the film and television industry.
Professor Chen Baoquan, the chief scientist of the Advanced Imaging Innovation Center, the Dean of the School of Computer Science and Technology of Shandong University, and the Dean of the School of Software Science, delivered the keynote speech “Future Image Preview: Can Artificial Intelligence Lead the Production of Film and TV Content?â€. In his speech, he mentioned that in the future we can create or assist in creation through deep learning, improve the efficiency of production, especially post-production, and use artificial intelligence to quickly generate digital assets.
Zhang Xin, member of the committee of the Advanced Image Innovation Center Technology Committee and the chief researcher of the Network Graphics Group at Microsoft Asia Research Institute, mentioned in his speech “From Interactive Graphics to Intelligent Images†that the Microsoft Academia team has been working to help ordinary users Easily generate and share 3D content, and developed a technical process for rapid 3D scanning and reconstruction using software algorithms to use low-cost hardware devices. He hopes that these technologies can help more artists or ordinary users create 3D content more easily and more easily.
Prof. Li Wenxin from the School of Information Science and Technology at Peking University published a speech entitled "When Artificial Intelligence Meets the Film", saying that artificial intelligence is not terribly imaginary. She said that the responsibility of scientists is to explore the unknown areas, and businessmen and politicians are the key to determine the direction of science and technology applications; the core of the film should be moving art rather than technology.
In the following group discussions, five experts discussed whether artificial intelligence could trigger the revolution in the film and television industry from creation to production.
Zhou Kun, director of the State Key Laboratory of Computer-aided Design and Graphics at Zhejiang University, presented the keynote speech "Computer Graphics 2.0: Towards End-User-Generated 3D Contents" in the afternoon forum on virtual reality video content. He summarized motion capture. The accuracy, real-time display of digital modeling, and technical breakthroughs in the physical model of digital models, and believe that these technological breakthroughs will bring about the further popularization of professional content production.
Dominick Spina, Director of Motion Technologies, AMD Studios, presented a wonderful speech on "Real-Time Visualization and High-Performance Rendering to Create High-Quality Image Content", introducing AMD Studios in using real-time visualization and high performance Rendering technology creates experience sharing and latest developments in the field of high quality image content.
Sebastian Knorr, a senior researcher at Trinity College in Dublin, introduced us to the V-sense project based on the visual perception enhancement of images.
Wang Zhigang, deputy director of the Department of Information Arts at Tsinghua University’s School of Fine Arts, used examples of contemporary virtual reality to illustrate the French philosopher Baudrillard’s famous saying “(media/virtual reality) not only does not need to imitate reality, but also produces reality. Shape our aesthetic taste, diet and dress habits and even the entire lifestyle." He asked questions about the creative concept and ontology of the current virtual reality art, and put forward the concept of passive and unconscious immersion before active and immediate interaction.
Gianluigi Perrone, a leader in VR who has worked in China for many years, is the subject of a speech entitled "China's Leading Virtual World: A Social VR Project that Will Change the Virtual Reality Industry." He introduced SANSAR, the most developed social VR platform designed for virtual elites, and he hopes that China, the booming Internet industry, will become the leader in this field.
Zeng Zhi of Chengdu Guanjie Chuangyu Technology Co., Ltd. introduced their exploration of the next-generation panoramic photography technology. He analyzed the problems in the production of panoramic cameras. In order to realize a more realistic three-dimensional feeling, Zeng Zhi hopes to improve the effect of panoramic content by adding depth data, and hopes to work in the future with four-dimensional modeling for real-time.
Finally, Qian Xiaoyong, the content director of Strong Oxygen Technology, discussed the significance of information dissemination in the realization of social value in the creation and dissemination of effective content. At the same time, he hoped that effective information transmission could be achieved through the design of stereoscopic live broadcasting and other tools.
In the last group discussion on the day, technical experts and industry elites had a lively discussion on the future prospects of virtual reality.
In addition to the conference session, ICEVE 2017 also set up international advanced imagery forums, advanced image production technology exhibitions, awards for Chinese advanced video works awards, and high-quality film screenings. The rich activities include both academic discussions and practical applications. Leading explorations have achieved results.
In the 1000 square meters indoor exhibition area of the Advanced Imaging Technology Exhibition, leading domestic technology companies such as Dickson, Nuoyitan, Strong Oxygen Technology, and AMD were assembled, and over the same period accommodated 3,000+ professional film and television audience from all areas across the country. At the same time, in the VR virtual reality experience zone of the Advanced Imaging Center, the audience can experience the finalists of the sixth China Advanced Video Awards VR category.
The 6th China Advanced Video AwardsOn the morning of the 16th, the awarding ceremony for the Sixth China Advanced Image Awards was held on the site of the conference. For the first time, an international jury was formed for the selection of the China Advanced Image Awards. Nearly half of the jury members were judges of the international judging panel. There has been great innovation in internationality and openness. After six months of work registration and selection, a total of 10 awards were awarded for the three categories of three-dimensional movies, three-dimensional television, high-quality images and VR.
