Circuit design of 9.65W residential heating controller power supply

Summary:

The flyback converter uses the TNY275PN (U1) to provide two outputs: 5 V/250 mA and 14 V/350 mA. Typical applications are residential heating controllers (furnaces) or other applications that require two outputs. The value of C11 determines the use of U1's increased current limit and can output 9.65 W of power.

design feature

  • Simple design, low cost, only 38 components
  • Low no-load power consumption: no-load power consumption <150 mW at 230 VAC input
  • Meet CEC/Energy Star's efficiency requirements for on-load operation and power consumption requirements at no load
  • Both outputs have good cross regulation
  • EMI meets CISPR-22 Class B/EN55022 B requirements without input of X or Y capacitors or input common mode inductance
