Da Peng VR surpasses HTC Vive, China’s market share ranks first

Dafen VR has replaced HTC as China's best-performing VR head-display manufacturer. Its shipment volume in Q2 2017 was 18,000 units, an increase of 30% year-on-year. HTC Vive shipped 14,000 units, down 6%. Sony ranks third, with psvr head-mounted shipments in China of 9,000 units. According to Canalys estimates, the overall VR headline market in China increased by 25% quarter-on-quarter and shipments reached 80,000 units. New products from Pico, 3Glasses, and Hypereal all contributed to the overall market growth.

Da Peng offers a series of VR products, and their focus is on VR all-in-one machines, which account for 60% of Q2 quarter shipments. Big Brother's results benefit from a better product mix, as well as the latest release of the E3 lineup. Canalys analyst Jason Low said: "The biggest selling point for E3 is the very competitive price. By lowering the entry barrier, companies are now investing more in VR. Da Peng VR is winning orders from B2B partners, including hope to the family. Users provide media content and service providers for VR content.” The E3 headline generated 7,000 units in Q2 2017, which still lags behind HTC and Sony.

In the second half of this year, Canalys expects VR-one machines to become the market trend. HTC is recruiting developers for VR all-in-ones released on ChinaJoy 2017. Jason Low said: "HTC needs to quickly launch a VR-specific machine for the Chinese market to cater to this trend as soon as possible. But even if HTC cuts prices, due to the complexity of the current Vive system and the demand for VR-size PCs, this is for consumers and The adoption of companies poses many challenges. If HTC can provide an attractive VR all-in-one, price use, and can provide new use cases for businesses and consumers, HTC will be able to regain China's number one position."

The consumer market in China is still extremely challenging, especially for tied VR headsets that require external computing devices. At the same time, Chinese manufacturers have used HTC and Sony missed opportunities to seize the market. Canaly Research Analyst Mo Jia said: “The newcomer Hypereal has released a pro-Pano headline for PC VR games that fills the void of Oculus in China. Manufacturers must reduce prices while improving user experience and content in order to promote The growth and popularity of the consumer market. Pico showed a VR machine that can achieve a very good experience, while the price is less than 2,000 yuan.” Canalis estimated that the global VR headline shipment volume in the second quarter of 2017 was 800,000 units. And China accounts for 10% of the market.
