1, GPRS IP MODEM concept:
GPRS IP MODEM, also known as DTU, is a data transmission unit. It is a wireless terminal device that is specially designed to convert serial data into IP data or convert IP data into serial data through a wireless communication network.
2, GPRS IP MODEM advantages:

3, GPRS IP MODEM work process description:
After the GPRS IP MODEM is powered on, it first reads out the working parameters saved in the internal FLASH (including GPRS dialing parameters, serial port baud rate, data center IP address, etc., which have been configured in advance).
The GPRS IP MODEM lands on the GSM network and performs GPRS PPP dialing. After successful dialing, the GPRS IP MODEM will get an internal IP address randomly allocated by the mobile (typically 10.XXX). In other words, the GPRS IP MODEM is in the mobile intranet, and its intranet IP address is usually not fixed and varies with each dialing. We can understand that GPRS IP MODEM is a device within a mobile internal LAN. It can communicate with external Internet public network through a mobile gateway. This is similar to the way a computer in a LAN accesses an external network through a gateway.
GPRS IP MODEM initiates the communication connection with the data center and keeps the communication connection. Because the GPRS IP MODEM is in the mobile intranet, and the IP address is not fixed. Therefore, the data center can only be actively connected by the GPRS IP MODEM, and cannot be actively connected to the GPRS IP MODEM by the data center. This requires the data center to have a fixed public IP address or a fixed domain name. The public network IP address or fixed domain name of the data center is stored as a parameter in the GPRS IP MODEM so that once the GPRS IP MODEM is successfully dialed up, it can actively connect to the data center.
Specifically, the GPRS IP MODEM initiates a TCP or UDP communication request to the data center through the IP address of the data center (if the center domain name is adopted, the center IP address is first resolved through the center domain name) and the port number and other parameters. After receiving the response from the center, the GPRS IP MODEM thinks that the handshake with the center is successful, and then keeps this communication connection always exists. If the communication connection is interrupted, the GPRS IP MODEM will immediately shake hands with the center again.
Since the TCP/UDP communication connection has been established, data can be bidirectionally communicated.
For IP MODEM, as long as the two-way communication with the data center is established, the conversion of user serial data and GPRS network data packets is relatively simple. Once the user's serial data is received, the IP MODEM immediately encapsulates the serial data in a TCP/UDP packet and sends it to the data center. Conversely, when the IP MODEM receives the TCP/UDP packet sent from the data center, the data content is taken out of the IP MODEM and immediately sent to the user equipment through the serial port.
Since the IP MODEM vendors use the same basic configuration during the configuration and use of the IP MODEM parameters, the following introduction and configuration procedures are all described using the connection process between Siemens F2103 IP MODEM and the Siemens S7200 PLC.
Two, four letter IP MODEM parameter settings
1. Prerequisite: You must have a fixed IP address or use a domain name tool such as peanut shell to obtain an IP address to resolve domain names.
Open the communication port that needs communication in the router, as shown in the following figure (the specific settings can be contacted with the company's network management)
Note: NAT has other different names in general other servers, such as virtual server settings, port mapping. The general situation and network management description can be port mapping.

1) Connect IP MODEM to PC with serial cable, do not power on first
2) Run the configuration program and set the serial port as follows:
According to the actual serial port and baud rate fill in (this computer's serial port is COM4, ​​the baud rate is 115200), four letter IP MODEM default baud rate is 115200.

Note: When a backup center is not used in a single center, the same address and port are the same in the main center backup center. In the figure, port 5002 is the port number opened by the corresponding data center.
2, the setting of IP MODEM working parameters
1, working mode
PROT mode is used when connecting with Easy Control Software. There are other modes of work, there are other applications.
2, serial parameters set according to the actual situation
3, the debugging level is used when the debugging of the equipment is debugged. The default is 1, and the general setting is 0 or 1. When the debugging information is 2, it is used when it is excluded.
4, the device SIM card number customers set their own 11 digits, the figure is set to 13912345678.
3, network connection parameter settings
1. When the APN network of GPRS is set, the mobile network is cmnet.
2. The username and password of the GPRS mobile network are empty.
3, GPRS dialing center number, mobile network is *99***1#.
4. The SMS center number is the local SMS center number, which is set according to local conditions. By default, the device is filled with the SMS center number in Xiamen.
Four letter IP MODEM light flashes:
1, the power light is always on after the device is powered on.
2. The act lamp flashes when the device network dials.
3, after the device is connected to the data center, the online light is on.
4. The act lamp flashes while the device is transmitting data.
Third, IP MODEM test
After the IP MODEM configuration is completed, the communication test between the IP MODEM and the serial port can be performed on the local machine. Only after the local machine and the IP MODEM can communicate normally can the IP MODEM communicate with the actual device. Test premise: IP MODEM configuration is complete, with IP MODEM test software (manufacturers generally come with), serial debugging assistant. During the test, the connection between the IP MODEM and the computer must be properly connected to the serial port cable. As shown below
1, configure the relevant IP MODEM parameters, network center address, port number and working mode. Save the settings and restart the device. Open the serial port tool software and listen to the corresponding serial port.

Fourth, easy to control configuration software configuration

Under the Easy Control IO Communication Node, right-click New and select New. In the dialog box that is displayed, select the GPRS_CDMA option.
2. After the GPRS_CDMA is selected, the channel needs to be configured, which mainly includes: IP MODEM vendor, connection mode, port number, and terminal ID.
IP MODEM manufacturers: manufacturers choose, easy to control in a variety of IP MODEM manufacturers to choose from, there are common four Xiamen letter. Generally refers to the protocol used by each IP MODEM vendor. If the manufacturer does not choose, but supports transparent transmission, transparent transmission can also be used.
Connection mode: refers to the IP MODEM through what kind of connection and easy control connection, there are two kinds of TCP, UDP, which need to be set in the IP MODEM setting software, as long as the IP MODEM settings can be the same.
Port No.: The port number of Easy Control and IP MODEM communication is set in the IP MODEM. It can be the same as the IP MODEM setting.
Terminal ID: The SIM card number inserted in the IP MODEM.
3. After the configuration is completed, select the device to be communicated by the IP MODEM. Here, use the Simon 200PPI protocol to communicate with the Simon 200 PLC.
4. After completion, you can see under the IO communication node that there is an S7200PPI device in the GPRS_CDMA1 channel, in which new registers need to be read.
