LED industry ushered in a new wind, lack of "core" into the biggest obstacle

It is reported that the "Planning" aims to guide the development of China's semiconductor lighting industry, foster new economic kinetic energy, promote lighting energy conservation work, actively respond to climate change, and promote ecological civilization construction.

According to the "Plan", by 2020, China's semiconductor lighting key technologies must continue to break through, product quality continues to improve, industrial concentration gradually increased, forming more than one LED lighting enterprise with sales exceeding 10 billion yuan, cultivating one or two internationally renowned Brand, about ten domestic famous brands. At the same time, it will promote the application of OLED lighting products to a certain scale, laying the foundation for the development of a large country from the semiconductor lighting industry to a strong country.

China's LED industry has made significant progress

At present, semiconductor lighting is receiving widespread attention and attention from all countries in the world. During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, with the joint promotion of multi-sectoral and multi-initiatives, China's semiconductor lighting technology innovation and industrial development have achieved remarkable results. In terms of industry scale, in 2016, the overall output value of China's semiconductor lighting industry reached 521.6 billion yuan, an increase of 22.8% compared with 2015. In terms of the standardization system, China's semiconductor lighting standard testing and certification has made progress. According to incomplete statistics, China has released 47 national standards for semiconductor lighting and 33 industry standards. Many shortcomings plagued the industry forward

Some insiders said that China's LED industry is the world's number one, but "big but not strong", but also lacks well-known brands. More importantly, there are obvious technical shortcomings in the basic fields such as materials.

Meng Linkang, general manager of Xi'an Jinlin Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. said in an interview that the current lack of core technology in the development of China's LED industry, product patents are monopolized by Europe and the United States. It is understood that the lack of core technologies in the LED industry is mainly reflected in the high-power LED chips. At present, China's LED enterprises are mainly in the middle and lower reaches of the industrial chain. Core chips, especially high-power LED chips, still need to rely on “imports”, so enterprises will be limited in terms of pricing power. The lack of "core" has become the biggest obstacle to the development of China's LED industry. Similarly, key technologies such as device fabrication and system integration are also the weaknesses of China's LED lighting companies.

In addition, Meng Linkang told reporters that the current basic standards for LED industry in China only refer to international standards, and have not been studied in light of their own actual conditions. Therefore, the standards and testing systems developed are not comprehensive enough. This has caused a mixed bag in the market, which has caused some unscrupulous enterprises in China to take advantage of the situation. In order to occupy the market and continuously reduce the cost, the products are sold at low-end prices, causing other manufacturers to follow the trend, resulting in the disorderly intensified industry, and the product quality can not meet the market demand. It is difficult for manufacturers to improve their innovation capabilities.

Compared with foreign companies, China still has a large gap in the scale of its industry. In fact, good products never lack market. The question is whether the product has value, whether the value of the product possesses the development of the times, whether it corresponds to the value orientation of the user, whether the product promotion is authentic or not, and whether the product value can be reflected in the user's use of the product.

Core technology is the key to industrial development

In view of the fact that the core technology is the first element of the industry's forward development, the “Planning” has given corresponding countermeasures in terms of the lack of core technology.

The "Plan" proposes to support the research of semiconductor lighting fundamentals and common key technologies through national science and technology plans (special projects, funds, etc.), accelerate the research and development of key technologies such as materials, device preparation and system integration, and develop OLED lighting material design, device structure and preparation. Research on key common technologies for industrialization such as technology. Through industrial transformation and upgrading funds and industrialization demonstration projects and other channels, we will vigorously promote the silicon substrate LED technology and product application with independent intellectual property rights. The guiding products are improved and enhanced by focusing on the improvement of light efficiency and various photoelectric indicators, improving the light quality and light quality of LED products, and creating a safer, more comfortable, more efficient and energy-saving lighting environment. Strengthen the research and development and application of automated production equipment for LED lighting products to improve product production efficiency and quality.
