Samsung Electronics began mass production of 3D TV panels
Samsung Electronics, a Chinese semiconductor lighting company, announced that they have begun mass production of 3D LED-backlit LCD TVs and 3D LCD TV panels.
The company said it has begun production of 40-inch, 46-inch and 55-inch full HD 3D TV LEDs and LCD compatibility panels this month, using "3D Active Glasses", using Samsung's 240Hz technology, capable of displaying 2D and 3D full HD high quality images.
According to a report by market research firm DisplaySearch, the 3D display market is expected to grow from $902 million in 2008 to $22 billion in 2018. Specifically, the 3D TV market is expected to increase to $17 billion, and sales will increase from 200,000 units in 2009 to 64 million units in 2018.
