Sony exhibits 20.5-inch monochrome OLED panel for medical use
Sony exhibited a monochrome OLED panel for medical radiation in the "RSNA2012" of the Institute of Medical Radiology Equipment held in Chicago, USA on November 25-29, 2012. The company intends to use the OLED panel to have a superior effect than the black reproducibility of the liquid crystal panel, and to use it as a display scheme capable of realizing a medical image equivalent to a film.
The OLED panel shown this time is 20.5 inches and 2048×2560 pixels. According to Sony, the panel achieves excellent black reproducibility by utilizing technology developed in the development of displays for television stations. The minimum brightness is 0.001 cd/m2 or less, and the maximum brightness at the time of calibration is 500 cd/per square meter.
