US CPSC recalls Chinese-made wireless lighting switches
On October 21, 2009, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Idea Village Products jointly announced a voluntary recall of the Chinese-made Handy wireless lighting switch.
The recalled Handy wireless light switch is white, plastic, style number KS-080 marked on the receiver, and the front of the receiver has a blue electroluminescent night light. The lighting switch has been sold in supermarkets, pharmacy chain stores, TV shopping and online stores from March 2007 to July 2009, and the unit price is 10-15 US dollars per unit.
The number of recalled goods was about 1.3 million. The reason for the recall is that the receiver of the lighting switch is prone to overheating, posing a fire hazard. To date, Idea Village Products has received 14 reports of receiver overheating, of which 5 out of 9 fires caused property damage.
To this end, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that consumers immediately stop using the recalled lighting switch and contact Idea Village Products for free repair.
