Recent news is rumored that this year Apple's flagship iPhone will cancel the Home button design and integrate the Touch ID into the screen. Recently, however, a display technology development company in South Korea questioned the news. The company’s executives said, “It’s still difficult to develop transparent sensors and components for full-screen smartphones.â€
The executive also said: "If these technologies are fully developed, it is definitely a huge leap for the smartphone industry."
The report pointed out that the current biosensor and module manufacturers, including China's Goodix and South Korea's CrucialTec, are committed to developing on-screen fingerprint readers. The two companies mentioned the latest technology at the Mobile World Congress in February this year, but when their technology can be put into commercial use, there is no specific timetable.
But if we remember correctly, as early as last summer, CrucialTec claimed that they had already supplied some customers with a fingerprint scanning module that could be installed at the bottom of the screen. The news that Apple installed the Touch ID on the screen was also exposed at that time. It seems that CrucialTec only released smoke bombs last year. They didn't master the technology at all. Now, when their own research and development has not made progress, they begin to doubt whether other manufacturers in the industry really have this ability.
Another reason that South Korea’s display technology development company questioned may be because Samsung failed to integrate fingerprint sensors into the screen. Recently, it was reported that Samsung invested heavily in the new technology of SynapTIcs last year in order to develop a solution for integrating fingerprint sensors into the screen, but it was only in vain. Now that the Samsung S8 production date is approaching, they can only move the fingerprint sensor from the Home button to the back of the fuselage.
So, can Apple successfully integrate Touch ID into the screen this year, and give those questioning people a loud slap in the face? Waiting for the release conference this fall.
