Onlookers under the Essential Phone screen camera patent: or will end Liu Haiping

As a benchmark in the mobile phone industry, every time Apple releases new products, it will always cause a mimic of the industry. Without exception, the iPhone X's novel Liu Haiping also made the mobile phone industry enthusiastic, causing major Android manufacturers to follow suit. However, you may not know that it is not Apple that brought Liu Haiping first, but the Essential Phone PH-1, which is the father of Android, Andy Rubin.

To some extent, Essential Phone is the ancestor of Liu Haiping. But in the future, it may personally end the era of Liu Haiping.

IT Home learned that in February last year, Essential Phone applied for a patent similar to the design of the camera under the screen (see the picture below).

This idea is not complicated. The LCD screen is made of an almost transparent material. Therefore, if the camera is placed under an "almost transparent" part of the LCD screen and the part is turned off when the picture is taken, the screen can be "integrated" with the camera.

It sounds simple, so why didn't anyone think of this?

Currently, this concept has two implementation options. The first option is to make the screen semi-transparent; the second is to let the camera record the color emitted by the LCD screen color filter layer and then correct it through software.

Despite the bangs screen industry, some manufacturers are also trying to conceive other solutions for placing front-facing cameras. The millet Mix 2 method is to put the front camera on the bottom of the fuselage, and the vivo is to add a retractable camera to the APEX (but the Essential Phone also has a similar patent).

In contrast, if Essential Phone can turn this patent from vision to reality, then its solution must be the most fascinating.
