There are many ways to measure pressure. Here is a method for measuring pressure using strain gauges. If the tensile force or pressure is applied to the resistor body, the change in resistance value is proportional to the expansion and contraction of the resistor body. The output of the strain gauge is generally extremely small and temperature-dependent, so that the temperature compensation component is used in the bridge of the strain gauge. An example of a pressure measuring circuit is shown in the figure. The strain gauge uses a full-bridge sheet strain gauge with a nominal resistance of 120 Ω, and the amplifier uses an instrument amplifier.
The instrumentation amplifier is a kind of differential amplifier with high input impedance and strong suppression of the same direction noise. It is most suitable for amplifying the bridge output signal.
