The three major operators reported in 2016
From the report, we can see the importance of mobile phone traffic to China Mobile. Wireless Internet revenue increased by 43.5% compared with last year, accounting for 46.2% of communication service revenue. For the first time in the year, it surpassed the sum of voice and short multimedia message revenue, and became the company's largest source of income. In addition, China Mobile's 2016 communication service revenue increased by 6.7%, hitting a five-year high, ranking first in the industry.
As of the number of users, as of the end of 2016, there were 849 million mobile phone customers, a net increase of 22.66 million. At present, China Mobile has built the world's largest 4G network, adding 400,000 4G base stations, with a total of 1.51 million, covering a population of more than 1.3 billion; the average download rate of 4G urban roads reaches 40Mbps;
Prior to China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom also announced their respective performances, but the difference is not that big.
On March 21, the data released by China Telecom showed that in 2016, the company achieved operating income of 352.3 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.4%, and service income of 309.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.6%, and the growth rate continued to increase. Profit attributable to shareholders of the company was RMB 18.004 billion, down 10.2% year-on-year.
The number of users of China Telecom reached 215 million, a net increase of 17.1 million. The total traffic of 4G mobile Internet access has increased by nearly 3 times year-on-year, and the monthly average traffic of 4G users has entered the GB era.
The results announced by China Unicom are much worse. Data show that in 2016 China Unicom's operating income was 274.197 billion yuan, down 1.0% year-on-year, and net profit was 625 million yuan, down 94.1%.
It can be seen from the above data that China Mobile has absolute advantages in terms of revenue, profit and number of users in the three major operations.
In terms of profit alone, China Mobile’s net profit was 108.7 billion yuan, while China Telecom and China Unicom were only 18.004 billion yuan and 625 million yuan respectively.
Roughly calculated, China Mobile's average daily profit in 2016 was nearly 300 million yuan, which means that China Mobile's two days of money is equivalent to the total profit of China Unicom for the whole year.
