Voluntary recall of fluorescent lamps by the United States and Cooper Lighting
On November 21, 2007, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Cooper Lighting Co., Ltd. jointly announced a voluntary recall of fluorescent lamps made in China.
The recalled product is a model 9240 Metalux fluorescent lamp. Among them, only the fluorescent lamps produced between December 1, 2006 (date code "34406") to September 14, 2007 (date code "25707") were included in the recall. The model number and date code are marked on the label and packaging of the fluorescent fixture housing. The fluorescent lamp was sold in the home and hardware stores in the United States from January to October 2007, and the unit price is 8-10 US dollars per unit.
The number of recalled goods was about 274,000. The reason for the recall is that when the fluorescent lamp is installed, the two poles of the plug power cord will be in contact at the same time, which may cause the user to be shocked. At present, Cooper Lighting Co., Ltd. has received six reports of electric shocks from consumers, and no serious personal injury accidents have occurred.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends that consumers immediately stop using the fluorescent fixture, remove the fluorescent fixture as described on , and return the fixture to the retail store for a full refund or store voucher.
