Among them, Sumitomo Chemical, which has the largest production increase, plans to invest 10 billion yen in the summer of 2012 to add new LED substrate material “high-purity alumina” to the Ehime Plant (Ningju City, Ehime Prefecture). Line, multiplying its annual production capacity from the current 1,600 tons to 3,200 tons.

After the increase in production, Sumitomo Chemical's high-purity alumina capacity is expected to surpass the US Sasol's global leading position, and Sumitomo Chemical plans to add a new production line with an annual capacity of 1,600 tons in 2013.

Mitsubishi Chemical plans to invest 3 to 4 billion yen to expand the annual phosphor production capacity of the Odawara Plant (Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture) from the current 6 tons to about 6 to 40 tons by the end of 2015.

Showa Denko plans to invest 1 billion yen to expand its production capacity in Japan, China, and Taiwan. In 2011, the annual production capacity of high-purity ammonia will increase by 70% to 5,000 tons from the current 3,000 tons.

In addition, Konica Minolta Opto, a subsidiary of Konica Minolta, has also added a new line of light guide plates that can evenly spread LED light in the Shanghai factory in China. The annual shipment target of LED lighting modules is 10,000.
