Korean media called "Pokemon Go" to learn Korean games

On August 11th, with the increasing popularity of Pokémon Go around the world, some countries began to commit "red eye disease." Recently, South Korean media reported that the "Pokemon GO" gameplay is not Niantic's initiative, but borrowed from an AR game called Capture Orc that South Korea had previously launched. This is another element after the "Confucius" and "Dragon Boat Festival" are South Korea.

The AR game titled "Catch Orr" was developed by Korean company KT in 2011. It is similar to "Pokemon GO" in terms of game mode and content. It captures the monster characters that appear in certain areas during APP operation. Players will be rewarded if they can capture the monster. However, the game was shut down in February 2013 due to low popularity.

After learning about the news, the Japanese media said that as for the reference to "Pokemon GO", it is difficult to convince people that "Pokemon Go" can achieve today's results. The novel game of AR+LBS is indeed one aspect. However, Nintendo’s hard work for the brand “Pokemon” for 20 years is the main reason for success. South Korea wants to use this approach to focus the attention of the world on itself. It is not ruled out that South Korea is self-promotion.
