In recent years, the electronic market in the automotive market has become more and more obvious. With the increase of additional functions such as ADAS, the number of electronic devices installed in each car has gradually increased. In the process of electronic electronics, the existence of in-vehicle LAN is indispensable for information transmission between electronic devices in the car. In order to transmit a large amount of information through the in-vehicle LAN, in addition to high speed, there is also a high reliability requirement for communication quality, so the vehicle-specific unique human-machine interface is often used.
Among them, CAN (Controller Area Network) is widely used in in-vehicle LANs.
Noise suppression countermeasures in CAN
[Electromagnetic Noise Problems and Noise Suppression Components in CAN]
CAN requires high reliability of communication quality, especially electromagnetic noise that affects reliability. In order to prevent the occurrence of noise, the electromagnetic noise problem does not affect the wireless communication used in the interior of the vehicle. In addition to the noise that is mixed in from the surroundings, it is required to maintain high reliability in order to ensure communication quality. For example, in radiated noise, high frequency noise of a signal frequency of 250 kHz (or 500 kHz) can be radiated to a tens of MHz band at a high level.
The DLW43SH is commercialized by Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. as a common mode choke coil for noise suppression in CAN. As a smaller product of the DLW43SH series, Murata is currently developing the DLW32SH series.
[Evaluation of noise suppression effect and influence on waveform generated by DLW series]
In order to confirm the effects of the DLW43SH series and the DLW32SH series in CAN, the radiation noise evaluation, BCI experiment, and waveform evaluation using the CAN evaluation board were performed.
â– Radio noise assessment
The noise suppression effect obtained is confirmed by adding the DLW43SH series or the DLW32SH series.
(250kHz pulse, when the vertical polarization is 20.5MHz, about 25dB noise suppression effect
500 kHz pulse, vertical polarization is 21.0 MHz. Approximately 18dB of noise suppression)
â– BCI experiment
Both the DLW43SH series and the DLW32SH series can suppress misoperation and clear 100mA over the entire frequency (1MHz-400MHz).
â– Waveform evaluation
Both the DLW43SH series and the DLW32SH series are compared with the case of a short circuit, and it can be confirmed that both series have almost no influence on the waveform.

Radiated noise assessment was performed using the star topology below.
The CAN substrate will input the 250kHz/500kHz pulse in the clock oscillator into the Txd of the transceiver made by Company A, so that the CAN signal will occur.
The receiving node assumes a high impedance IC as an open terminal.
