Changzhou builds a smart grid

On November 6th, the 2012 Changzhou City Smart Grid Industry Chain Matchmaking Conference, sponsored by the Changzhou City Economy and Information Committee, attracted the Municipal Power Transmission and Transformation Industry Association, the Municipal Photovoltaic Association, the Municipal Nuclear Power Association, the Municipal Thermoelectric Industry Association, and the City. Smart grid is a major strategic orientation of China's power system, and it is also an important goal of China's energy planning. Changzhou is one of the most developed regions in China's power equipment manufacturing industry, and has reached international advanced level in UHV and flexible transmission technology. From January to September, the main business income of Changzhou City's power transmission and transformation industry was 42.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13%.

The reporter learned from the docking exchange meeting that in the next five years, the smart grid in Changzhou will enter the stage of comprehensive construction, focusing on implementing the "531" project and promoting the agglomeration and development of the Changzhou power transmission and transformation industry. The "531" project is the development of five major segments: the tower block where large transformers gather, the Shenyang block where power transmission and transformation equipment gathers, the Tianning plate where power equipment gathers, the Xinbei block where electrical and electronic equipment gathers, and the Qishuyan block where transmission and distribution equipment gathers. The construction of three major bases: production and manufacturing bases for power transmission and transformation equipment, parts procurement support bases for Changzhou power transmission and transformation equipment, and R&D and testing bases for Changzhou power transmission and transformation equipment. The city’s goal is to make Changzhou the first city in China’s smart grid equipment.
