Hokkaido will install 60,000 kilowatt-hour batteries
Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced on the 17th that it plans to install the world’s largest large-capacity battery with a capacity of approximately 60,000 kWh at the substation of Hokkaido Electric Power Company. According to the report, due to the concentration of low-cost solar power stations in Hokkaido, the weather conditions can not provide stable power supply, and the stored power of the batteries can achieve stable power supply.
The Japanese government has spent 20 billion yen (approximately 1.26 billion yuan) from the reserve for the 2012 budget to invest in the plan, and it is expected to start by the end of 2014. The installation site and battery types will be determined in May this year.
