Is the LED lighting calculation method not important? That is to lie to you!

If any lighting design master tells you: lighting calculations are not important at all! Then he must have lied to you.

I have seen a lot of lighting masters who pay great attention to lighting calculations. In their lighting solutions, there are quite a few simulation calculations about the number of lighting designs. Moreover, the more complex the space, the more lighting calculations are needed.

Illumination calculation as a quantitative design method is indispensable in most occasions.

If some error is allowed, it is not difficult to calculate the necessary illuminance by calculation during the lighting design.

Today we will introduce two methods.

1. Luminous flux method

The luminous flux method is mainly used in the calculation of the average illuminance in the space of equidistantly arranged lighting fixtures. In addition to the use of clear space in offices and factories, in the space where restaurants, restaurants, houses, etc. need to improve the atmosphere, in order to confirm the approximate Illumination, it is convenient to use this illuminance calculation method.

2, point-by-point calculation

The illuminance point-by-point calculation method is used when calculating the illuminance required for the work surface and the key display portion of the local illumination.

Luminous flux calculation

Example 1

When installing a 500 lm 100w bare bulb, assuming that 30% of the light beam is uniformly illuminated directly on the ground, what is the average direct illumination on the ground?

E=F/A=1500*0.3/10=45lx

In addition to the beam that illuminates the ground, other beams illuminate the ceiling and walls. If the reflectivity of the ceiling and the wall is high, the reflected light will be added to the direct illumination of the ground, so the actual illuminance is above 45lx.

Most of the lamps used for basic lighting are embedded or directly mounted lamps for direct lighting and downlights, as well as ceiling indirect lighting such as illuminated light troughs. The illuminance calculation of direct light distribution is more limited by the ceiling and wall reflectance. Even if the room reflectance setting is somewhat different, the average illuminance error will be small.

However, if there is a higher partition wall and furniture, etc., the calculation result of the shadow portion deviates. In addition, the indirect lighting of the ceiling is not only affected by the ceiling surface, but also by the wall reflectivity, even the architectural lighting like the lighting trough illumination, due to the size of the opening and the light source and reaching the ceiling. The distance of illumination will vary, so it is difficult to calculate without error.
