Automotive ready-to-use InfoADAS framework for informational entertainment and ADAS innovation integration

The most exciting aspect of the automotive industry is the constant opportunity to continue to discuss opportunities, and some of the most creative and demanding engineers around the world are constantly challenging to seize opportunities. Not only does the author have such an opportunity, but I was recently asked in a meeting the question: "Do the 'Jacinto 6' platform really play a full role?" The author admits that she is a bit frustrated. Although TI has invested in all of its innovations in its latest infotainment processor family, we are not doing enough because it is difficult for engineers to be satisfied. But the setback quickly turned into an opportunity. Looking back, this is just a starting point for the exciting and ambitious plans for the "Jacinto 6" platform, with the goal of integrating more features into infotainment. The processor (without impacting performance) reshapes the traditional infotainment architecture.

Is it cool to be able to expand the existing investment in the infotainment field by adding unprecedented innovations to enhance the driver's awareness of the inside and outside conditions? The opportunity to enhance the driver experience by adding non-secure content to traditional in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) features makes the “Jacinto 6” platform support the modern car cockpit and adapt to industry trends. Imagine how good it would be if you had the opportunity to install new features in the cockpit (such as having your vehicle automatically set your digital preferences). What if you can monitor every angle of your vehicle at any time, or personalize your HD (HD) virtual dashboard? Or imagine that you can increase your perception while your eyes are on the road, or improve your 3D navigation with head-up display augmented reality. What about it?

TI's team has signed up for the challenge and has begun to push for the required hardware and software upgrades while maintaining full compatibility across the entire "Jacinto 6" series. First, we enhanced digital signal processor (DSP) and visual processing capabilities to enhance digital cockpit integration in our "Jacinto 6" series, and introduced (read the press release) the new DRA75x infotainment processor. Next, we applied our Informatics Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) concept to the next step and implemented a single "Jacinto 6 Ex" processor at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Finally, we finally launched the InfoADAS Software Development Kit (SDK) today (read press release), which provides scalability across advanced operating systems (HLOS) and "Jacinto 6" devices. A car-ready InfoADAS framework is also available to integrate the ADAS algorithm into the infotainment SDK (watching video).

When used with the InfoADAS SDK, the DRA75x processor provides an off-the-shelf solution for innovative convergence between infotainment and informational ADAS.

I can't wait to understand the enhanced driver experience that our customers are building with these innovations and InfoADAS technology, but they have put forward more requirements... In fact, this is why the author favors the automotive industry.
