Parker Aerospace provides thermal management solutions for joint attack missiles

Kongsberg Defense Systems ’Joint Attack Missile (JSM) requires a thermal management solution. They found the solution they wanted at Parker Aerospace.

Parker won a contract for a fluid-based thermal management system for cooling JSM electronics. The contract includes system development and prototype hardware to the preliminary design review stage. JSM is expected to be the main attack weapon of the F-35, and potential applications include F / A-18E / F. Parker will design and manufacture the entire thermal management solution for the missile. The system design uses a single-phase pump fluid system, using fuel as the cooling fluid and the final heat sink.

The hardware part of the complete thermal management solution includes: 2 cold plates for front avionics module (FAM) and rear avionics module (RAM); pump system with pump, motor and controller; heater; Fluid transportation device with pipes and fittings. Officials expect to deliver the first system in the first half of this year.
